Whitby Rotary Outdoor Gym Grand Opening

This coming weekend on Sat June 23rd, 2012, the Rotary Outdoor gym will have its grand opening, from 9-11 a.m. at Whitby's Heydenshore Park by the lake. (at the end of the boardwalk). There will be equipment demos, a yogo class (9:15 a.m.) and free refreshments.
Manufactured in Canada by GreenGym (http://www.greengym.ca) is in keeping with buying Canadian.
In a partnership by the Town of Whitby, the Rotary Whitby Sunrise and the Rotary Club Whitby, this wonderful gym has been made possible.
The Rotary outdoor gym will have 10 pieces of outdoor fitness equipment, that is specially made for outdoor use. Equipment for cardiovascular endurance, upper and lower strength training, as well as an accessible piece that accommodates a wheelchair is on site. The equipment does not use weights, but one's own body weight.
The idea from these outdoor gyms originated in China, prior to the 2008 Olympic games. These new gyms are becoming more popular and now are being built all over the world.
