Oshawa - The 11th Annual Rotary Club Ribfest will be held, as usual, at Lakeview Park on September 7, 8, 9 this summer. Last season, over 80000 people attended the event which is becoming an annual tradition in the City of Oshawa.
The host, the 92 year old Rotary Club of Oshawa, has shaken things up for this year's festivities promising a Celtic theme for most of the musical acts.
Over eleven ribbers from all across Canada and the United States will participating in this years competition. Here is a list of this year's competitors:
Billy Bones BBQ
Camp 31 BBQ
Hawg's Wild BBQ
Texas Rangers BBQ
Thirsty Cactus BBQ
In 2011, the Overall Best Ribber went to Thirsty Cactus, the Best Sauce and Best Ribs awards went to Billy Bones. Horn Dawgs was the runner-up in each of those categories.
The popularity of this event grows with each passing year partially because of the free admission, free entertainment, free musical acts, and free parking. To keep the kids occupied between meals, GTA Midways will have a number of attractions and rides available at an optional addictional cost.
