Canada Day 2016 Events In Durham Region


Durham Region is the perfect place to welcome summer with the annual Canada Day celebrations. From concerts to museum tours, and of course the traditional fireworks displays, there is something for everyone on our list of Durham Region Canada Day events.



Time: 12:00 p.m to 11:00 p,m.

Where: Kinsmen Park, 705 Sandy Beach Rd

Details: Free Canaday Day Celebration with the City of Pickering.
Day time fun starts at noon includes all kinds of family activities, amusements & entertainment.
At 5 pm the daytime activities come to a close and we prepare for the evening.  This is a perfect time to grab some food from our fabulous food trucks on site and enjoy in the family picnic area. (new this year)
Evening entertainment starts at 7 pm and finishes with an awesome fireworks display at dusk.
FREE EVENT SHUTTLE: starts at noon and run until after the fireworks are over and park is clear. All buses are fully accessible. Buses run on 30 minute loops. As the day progresses more buses are added.
Shuttle Locations: Go Station Parking lot at Sandy Beach & Bayly, and the 2 OPG Parking lots at 777 & 889 Brock Road South.  Bus will drop off and pick up from the park entrance.  
Please note: Sparklers and/or personal fireworks are not permitted in the park. By-law will be enforced.

Details: It’s the biggest birthday party in Town!
Celebrate Canada Day in Ajax with fun, food, games, entertainment and fireworks.There will be children’s activities, face painting, inflatable rides, wagon rides, strolling buskers and more.
Visit our local community groups and organizations, enjoy live entertainment and cultural performances on stage, and try some delicious food at one of our many food vendors.
Parking is limited and not guaranteed. Leave the driving to us – take the free Canada Day Shuttle. Nominal fees apply for food and beverages.
Shuttle Locations (buses arrive approximately every 20 minutes):
1.) GO Parking off of O’Brien Court
2.) J. Clarke Richardson School - 1355 Harwood Ave. N.
3.) Ajax Town Hall - 65 Harwood Ave. S.
4.) RioCan Plaza (Wal-Mart) - 270 Kingston Rd. E.

Where: Victoria Fields, Victoria Street West between Henry Street and Gordon Street, Whitby

Time: 2:00pm to 10:00pm

Where: Lakeview Park, Simcoe St. S. and Lakeview Park Ave

Details:  This exciting event will take place at Lakeview Park on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy family, food, entertainment and the amazing firework display at the end of the evening. Bands will play on centre stage throughout the day. Families make sure to visit Family Zone from 2:00-6:00pm for an assortment of activities including jumping castles and Zoo To You. If you are looking to add some history to your Canada Day, Oshawa Community Museum will be providing tours and information throughout the day.


Time: 2:00-10:00pm

Where: Newcastle and District Recreation Complex

Details: The town of Newcastle has lots of activities happening all Canada-Day Long, and you’re welcome to join us! Enjoy free parking and activities all day. Monetary donations accepted to keep Canada Day a free and fun event for all! 2pm to 10pm. Opening Ceremony at 4pm!

Details: Celebrate Canada’s Birthday in the gardens at the beautiful Bowmanville Museum. Enjoy barbeque, birthday cake, horse and carriage rides, live music, face painting, free museum tours, olde time games, cotton candy, snow cones and more. Perfect for the whole family! July 1st, 10:30am-2:30pm at Bowmanville Museum, 37 Silver St. FREE
